DNP3 stands for "Distributed Network Protocol", version 3. The SALCAN Process Technology Well Head Controller utilises DNP3 to ensure that the risk of data loss between the remote gas field and the SCADA server is minimised. This technology ensures that when a communications network is out of service no data loss occurs.

How does it work?

If the communications network running between the gas field and the SCADA server is out of service, DNP3 ensures that the process data is saved on the Well Head Controller temporarily. When the communications network becomes "healthy" again the saved data on the Well Head Controller is automatically sent through to the SCADA server for permanent storage. Hence, no data loss occurs.

Implementation of SALCAN Process Technology's Well Head Controllers ensures that the risk of loss of your valuable process data is minimised.
